Overview

Hello and welcome to my scripture study blog!

My name is Nate Barlow, and I am your typical 27-year-old Latter Day Saint. I'm married to a wonderful wife, have two young boys, work as a software engineer, and I love to learn.

My Purpose

I care deeply about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I decided to create this study blog for three principal reasons:

  1. I can use it as my own tool to consolidate my notes, thoughts, and feelings I have from studying the scriptures. I am able to format them in the way that best works for me, and I can continually add to and refer to them throughout my life.
  2. I am a strong believer in the power of accountability. By publishing these notes here publicly, I hope to enforce upon myself a habit of consistent and rigorous study.
  3. I want to have this resource to share with my family. I feel a profound sense of responsibility to "rear [my] children in love and righteousness" and to teach them true doctrine. I am concerned with the many falsehoods and negative influences they will encounter in their lives, so I'm creating this as a way to share my beliefs and testimony of Jesus Christ with them.

About the Site

The Notes section of this site is for my informal thoughts and observations from studying a given section of ancient or modern scripture, and it is what I will add to most frequently. It's not fully organized into a single, cohesive structure, but is a way for me to link together my ideas, questions, findings, and promptings. Over time, my notes will be organized by both book and topic. I've set up the site so that notes can link together, and from any given note, you can find all the "backlinks" to that note, or the other notes that reference it.

The Blog section is for those times when I choose to expand on a given doctrine or principle in a more formal way, such as for a talk or personal essay that I may choose to write. Official blog entries will be much less frequent.

Both the Notes and Blog sections will be searchable, use tags, and will link together.

I hope you find some value in the thoughts I will be sharing in this site. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me: nathanbarlow23@gmail.com.
